We left Pagman (the little treasure in the woods) and headed out westward.
We saw a marker for “Amulet” – a once thriving little town from 1909 to 1973.
Then came the white tail and mule deer, coyote, a pronghorn antelope, loping down the ditch next to the road (I wasn’t quick enough to get a picture since he was coming toward us).
It has rained hard on and off. My best friend is my rain suit Chris gave me for Christmas. Took more wonderful pictures of granaries and falling down buildings for my “view on the road”.
We got to Medicine Hat, Alberta and found the beautiful almost 90 year old church, St. Patrick’s church. We went to Mass there. Very friendly folks; sang all the hymns we knew. Only thing different there was that they stood during the Eucharistic prayer.
We then headed west again in the hopes of finding a little cheap out of the way place to camp for the evening. We found that in Bow Island. We ended up parking in this RV park in the mud; just as soon as we set up camp (which we are pretty efficient at any more) the heavens opened up and rained all night. That camp wasn’t worth more than the $5 we paid to park, but it was a safe place. The rain let up in the a.m. just long enough for us to break camp and get out of Dodge. As we left town we saw beautiful painted fire plugs…each different and very unique. Might be a little difficult to see in case of a fire???
“On the road” we passed Burdet (where they had the first pivot irrigation in Canada).
Sunday night, and we’re camping in Ft. Macleod and just chilling. Got here about noon; took showers J, and walks; Tommy kicked up a bunny and was really happy. An we saw a white tail deer watching us; got a good picture of it.
